I have been evaluating the SW and have used several script from the repository fine, I have tried using the "Download File" function via the giveaway script in the forum...

it shows the .zip icon but Djg seems to stop responding after several minutes, i have to close it down and restart, the file does not download completely...

i have waited several mins for a 5mb file and the error continues the Djg Not Responding and closing down.. Is there a better way to use the Download File function? Is there a setting to make downloads quicker and more efficient?

i have a fast connection and download files via IE/Firefox with no problems,

thanks for any insight on this function. TG

I have found no problems in the download file action. Also the giveaway script seems to work fine.
Which version of IE are you using?
Any special location (file and folder rights) you are saving the file?

Basically the save image actions works the same as the save file. So you could try that one instead. Also try downloading a file from another site just to make sure it's not related to your site.

The site i was using was the same script, giveaway sw script,

i use IE 8, the script works fine until you get to the download portion, i placed it on my desktop to see the file come in, and it shows the icon .zip and Djg just hangs there for several minutes (3-5), then i try and stop the script and Djg gives me a Not Responding error, in which i have to close down, i look at the file contents and nothing is downloaded,

is it definetly a .zip file?

Could you try if action example 50 works.
You can find the action example by opening the download file action in your script and click on the link 'Open example script'.

Thanks,
Tijn
